You don’t need to be a gardener to come along to the Queens Wood Community Garden all skill levels are catered for. It is a great opportunity to learn or share vegetable and fruit growing skills. We provide refreshments (and a share in the crop!) in return for your hard work.
Suggested activities include: Planting, digging, harvesting, basic DIY, pruning, clearing, sowing seeds and greenhouse work, maintaining healthy compost piles and if you need a break from gardening, you could help with some marketing and blog writing.
Skills and knowledge: A basic knowledge of plants and their management – but this is not essential! Reliable, a fair level of physical fitness, willing to work in a team with people of different ages and from different backgrounds, happy to work alone on tasks, the patience and ability to work in varying weather conditions and of course enjoyment of the outdoors, gardening and plants!
Drop-in volunteer sessions are every Monday and Thursday from 10.00am – 2.00pm all year round. Application in writing must be made via
All abilities welcome. Please wear suitable clothing. Regular volunteers get to take home samples of the produce and enjoy free refreshments from our café during the session.
